Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where  Tim  began  his career in banking as an analyst,  he  continued to flourish in the industry holding positions  in business banking,  wholesale  banking and  investment banking.

Tim Williams is a talented and seasoned banking executive with over 25 years of experience in the finance industry. He brings a wealth of expertise with particular strengths in areas such as business and commercial credit, private equity (PE), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and sell side investment banking. Tim has a strong understanding of various industries and the multiple stages of a capital raise.

After spending 20 plus successful years with major financial institutions, and years of experience and priceless industry knowledge, Tim decided to follow his dream and launch his own firm.  Focusing on the most neglected segment of Americas business community, the small/lower middle market business sector. 

Tim currently operates Fortis Capital Markets Group, Inc. Fortis Capital has worked with companies ranging from small scale start-ups to mid size corporations, offering advisory services across an array of industries including logistics, manufacturing, distribution, real estate, professional services, and the energy sector.

As Tim sets his sights on making Fortis the destination for the small to mid-size business market.  Fortis has partnered with several investment firms from Chicago to New York and merchant banks from the UK to Australia. 

In addition to his executive career, Tim has established himself as a community activist by serving as an active board member for several organizations such as: The Game Changers Academy, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing college opportunities to young men, and  S.A.C. (School Advisory Counsel for the Palm Beach County Schools).  He’s partnered with The Ernie Els School of Autism and The Mountaineers School of Autism to raise both awareness and funds. 

Over the past 20 years, Tim has established himself as a leader in his industry and an asset to his community and looks forward to serving the community more. 

As of Winter 2024 Tim Williams was installed as a member of the Forbes Finance Council.
